About The Author

Thank you for taking interest in my story. My name is Carlos Martin. I served as a sergeant in the U.S. army and am currently a retired veteran. While this is the title I wear for the majority of my book, I also wear many other hats. I am a father of two boys, King and Jaquell. I am a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and partner. Outside of my post-army and family life, I am a film/tv actor and director, where I go by the name King Jaquell Martin (after my boys). My recent film "The Evolution of Slavery" has received high praises and is set for its first film festival this year! I am also in pre-production for other passion projects of mine, one being a film adaptation of my book "A War on Friendly Grounds." I'm grateful to have a support system behind me and look forward to where this journey leads.

I would like to personally thank each and every one of you who has purchased my book. You've given a soldier a voice to tell a story that once fell on deaf ears. The purpose of this book is not only to share my story, but also to speak for the voiceless and bridge the gap between the public and the police. Thank you for supporting my purpose.

AWARONFRIENDLYGROUNDS

"What makes a rainbow beautiful? Is it not the diversity of colors? If that is true, do you think mankind's kryptonite is making one color better than the next, and if that happens, is it still a rainbow?"

-Carlos Martin (pg. 133)
